Creating Custom Colors for Your Concocktion

Choosing colors for your new bedmate can feel overwhelming when the possibilities are nearly endless ~ but it should be exciting, not stressful.

The good news? Some colors naturally complement each other beautifully, and some combinations tend to blend into muddy browns ~ which actually helps narrow things down.

Let’s break it down.

 

 

Great Color Combos

Neon Rainbow
Blue, pink, and yellow swirled together create a vibrant blend that bleeds into every color in between.

White & Red
Swirled or faded together, they create a soft pastel pink.

Dark, Bold Shades + Shimmer or Neon
Deep colors swirled with shimmery clear or bright neon create stunning, galaxy-like effects ~ some of my personal favorites.

Tricky Color Combos

These aren’t “bad,” but they require intention:

Yellow + Blue or Black
Yellow tends to disappear when mixed with darker colors. For best results, use yellow as the top of a fade so it stays bright and visible.

Orange + Green
When heavily swirled, this combo can create… let’s say an unexpected baby-puke shade.
To balance it, add white, black, or purple to give it structure and contrast.

Black Over Light Colors
Fades work best when the lightest color is at the tip. Black is powerful and can easily consume lighter tones if placed above them. To avoid losing detail, switch the order or request a swirl fade instead.

 

 

Finding Your Style

Now for the fun part ~ your aesthetic.

Classic
Green fade over purple ~ one of the most requested combinations.

Ocean
White and sea green with a gold swirl fade ~ like a wave breaking over golden shells.

Amethyst
Silvery purple fading into deep violet with a blue interference shimmer.

Strawberry Shortcake
White, pastel pink, and golden cream in a smooth, dreamy swirl.

Coffee
Black with bronze shimmer and creamy caramel swirls.

Snowy Evergreen
White fade over spring green and forest green swirl ~ a winter mountain vibe.

Devilish
Deep red shimmer fading into black.

Butter
Light creamy yellow fading into bold, shimmery yellow ~ warm and melted.

Cotton Candy
Pastel blue and neon pastel pink swirl.

Opal
White with interference shimmers. Add copper for natural, stone-like imperfections.

Sunflower
Yellow fading into light green ~ also beautiful as a swirl fade.
